£38 an hour on an 8-hour day. £57,000 to bring in across 190 billable days.
Your cost floor, not the market rate. 250 working days a year before holidays, sickness, quoting and days the site is not ready; 180 to 200 billable is realistic for most trades.
Most people divide the income they want by 52 weeks and 5 days and undercharge by a third. There are about 250 working days in a year before holidays, sickness, quoting, chasing invoices and the days the site is not ready. 180 to 200 billable days is honest for most trades.
Overheads are everything the customer does not see: van, fuel, insurance, tools, phone, accountant, software, the website. Add them to the income you want, divide by the days you will actually bill, and that is the floor. Anything below it is a hobby.
Where it stops: this is your cost floor, not the market rate. Charge what the job is worth to the customer where you can, and never below the floor.
